A Little Boy's Dream

During our Spring Break ski trip, my grandson asked if we could go horseback riding sometime.  Well what kind of Grammie would I be if I did not make it happen.  Well, we made it happen and then some!

After tons of research, we decided to make reservations at Rainbow Trout Ranch .

After a flight to Albuquerque, New Mexico, we spent the night in Taos.

Dinner at Graham's Grill:

Chile Relleno and Enchilada

Fish Tacos

The next morning we are on our way, but first we need a good breakfast.  Michael's Kitchen is the place that never changes and that makes us happy!  They are still serving the Moofie:

Devin looks happy with his breakfast and a giant glass of chocolate milk!

Time to say "good-bye" to New Mexico and
"hello" to Colorado with a little sight-seeing along the way.

Took a quick walk across the bridge over the Rio Grande Gorge.

And of course, a quick stop at Earthship housing development.

Now we are REALLY going to Colorado...

The first stop is the small town of Antonito, Colorado.  Everyone needs to see the most interesting home in town.  Someone has too much time on their hands I think!  I would love to meet this person, but I never see anyone outside.  As the sign says, "Mary Jane Is Healing"...guess they are indoors getting healed!

Finally!  We have arrived at Rainbow Trout Ranch!
Walking towards to main Lodge, look at the VIEW!

Devin, Larry and I checking out the game room.  Of course, Grandma knows how to play pool!

Here is the beautiful dining room.  Little did I know I would have a chance to eat food at every meal that I should not even be near!  This place is gifted with 2 chefs and a baker!  Fresh baked bread all the time!  And desserts with every lunch and dinner!  Lord, help me!

All the other guests arrived, we had dinner family-style.  We sat with other guests and some staff members.  Lots of talking, laughing and getting to know each other.  The first couple we met used to live in Victoria!  Already making connections! Got a schedule for the next day!  This is going to be so much fun!  I am sure our little cowboy is going to dream of riding and all the other adventures to come in the next week.  To tell the truth, this old cowgirl had some of those dreams, too.  Me, a cowgirl??  I don't think so!  But for this one week, I will play the part of the "old cowgirl"!
