Our government is still wallowing in the same stalemate that has caused friends to become foes and word to be exchanged that will be hard to forgive. Even my little life has been touched in a small way, my annual hiking trip had to be cancelled as Big Bend National Park remains closed. I will miss see the smiling faces of our friends and the laughs, hikes and sore muscles we share. Rather than wasting time blaming someone else for what I am missing, I plan to live life well and be happy!
Day One has taken us to the town where Larry lived while completing his masters degree...Portales, New Mexico. A little college town that reminds of a small Stillwater, OK. We had dinner at a fun place this evening. Made me think of the early beginnings of Eskimo Joe's. Roosevelt Brewing Company Public House had great atmosphere, pizza, in-house brewed beer and cupcakes! Nothing can duplicate the energy of a Saturday evening spent in the company of college students.

| Several large beer kettles are at the back. They sell kegs so you can keep enjoying their beer! |
 |
| All the people at the front are waiting for a table. The wait is well worth it. |
 |
Larry had their dark Porter beer. High alcohol content! and consumed
at an altitude of 4,000 ft! Low landers beware, we live below 100 ft.,
seemed pretty strong. It had a great taste, just take it slow! |
 |
| Even the dessert was made with beer. The dark Porter was used to make this cupcake! |
Since I am no longer the age of a college student, I must get some rest. A 600 mile drive plus and evening out is enough for today. There is always tomorrow......oh, I wonder where I might go next?
P.S. iPhone photography is just not as sharp as I like, should have had a better camera with me.
